Cytokine Immunotherapy for Neuroblastoma

نویسندگان

چکیده

Neuroblastoma (NB) is an embryonal tumor originating from the sympathetic nervous system, which occurs during fetal period or early postnatal period, and one of most common extracranial solid malignant tumors in children. Cytokines are pleiotropic proteins that can effectively activate immune cells counteract suppression, thereby suppressing tumors. Cytokine immunotherapy provides more possibilities for application through its own induction activation system has also been extensively studied NB immunotherapy. This article mainly introduces research progress several immunotherapies based on cytokines treatment children with NB.

Immunology and immunotherapy of neuroblastoma.

PURPOSE This review demonstrates the importance of immunobiology and immunotherapy research for understanding and treating neuroblastoma. PRINCIPAL RESULTS The first suggestions of immune system-neuroblastoma interactions came from in vitro experiments showing that lymphocytes from patients were cytotoxic for their own tumor cells and from evaluations of tumors from patients that showed infil...

Targeted cytokine delivery to neuroblastoma.

The aim of this study was to construct a fusion protein from the cytokine granulocyte/macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) and a single-chain Fv fragment (scFv D29) and to investigate its potential to activate cells of the immune system against neuroblastoma cells expressing neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM). Mammalian cell expression of the scFv D29-GM-CSF fusion protein was compar...

Cytokine treatment in cancer immunotherapy

In the interplay between cancer and immune system, tumor cells employ several mechanisms to evade the immune response [1]. One such mechanism is the suppression of MHC class I expression, which strongly reduces the antigenicity of tumor cells, therefore preventing an immune response mediated by cytotoxic T cells. Impaired MHC expression is generally common among tumors and in one systematic stu...

Cytokine-based immunotherapy of allergic disease.

Human immediate hypersensitivity diseases are strongly associated with an excessive type 2 response to normally innocuous environmental antigens, and are a growing health care concern in developed nations. Commonly prescribed treatments provide effective symptomatic relief, but are unable to consistently ameliorate the underlying cause of allergic disease: the excessive generation of allergen-s...

Cytokine Induced Killer Cells as Promising Immunotherapy for Solid Tumors

Cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cells are a heterogeneous subset of ex-vivo expanded T lymphocytes which present a mixed T-NK phenotype and are endowed with a MHC-unrestricted antitumor activity. The main functional properties of CIK cells may address some of the main limitations that are currently preventing the successful clinical translation of adoptive immunotherapy strategies. Clinically ade...
